The Storage Bus turns the inventory it touches into network storage. The ME Network can see the contents of that inventory, and can push to and pull from it to fulfill requests.
Unlike most parts, the Storage Bus is not limited to pure storage. Through AE2’s emergent mechanics, subnetworks can use a Storage Bus (or several) as the only storage available, allowing it to act as a source or destination for item transfer. (See Subnetworks.)
They are cable subparts.
By default the Storage Bus will store everything.
Items placed into its filter slots act as a whitelist, only allowing those specific items to be stored. Items and fluids can be dragged into the slots from JEI/REI even if you do not possess them. Right-clicking with a fluid container (bucket, tank, etc.) sets that fluid as a filter instead of the container item.
Priorities control which storage is used first.
Priority is set using the wrench icon in the top-right of the GUI. Items entering the network are placed into the highest priority storage. If two storages share the same priority, items prefer whichever already contains them. Filtered storages are treated as “already containing” the filtered item when competing at the same priority. Items removed from storage come from the lowest priority first.
This causes higher priority storages to fill first and lower priority storages to empty first.
Setting | Description |
---|---|
Partition | Filters itself to match the contents of the attached inventory |
Visibility | Allows or disallows the network from seeing items that cannot be extracted (e.g. Inscriber center slot) |
Filter Mode | Filters on both insertion and extraction, or only on insertion |
Direction | Can be set to Bi-directional, Insert-only, or Extract-only |
Upgrade | Effect |
---|---|
Capacity Card | Increases the number of filter slots |
Fuzzy Card | Filters by damage level and/or ignores item NBT |
Inverter Card | Switches the filter from whitelist to blacklist |
Overflow Destruction Card | Voids items if the attached inventory is full. Useful for farms, but dangerous if not carefully partitioned |
